I have been struggling to not do something. If you’re an author without a full time, paid job, you’ll likely understand the desire to keep working because not doing so feels like a waste of time.
Since my books were released, I’ve written one piece of fiction – LEAK – and done nothing else. I’ve played Animal Crossing for the first time in years; read three books and two Mangas; watched shows I’ve been meaning to catch up on. But, overall, I’ve been consistently thinking about what am I going to do next?
And it’s what I’m going to talk about today – I have many ideas but the inability to pick.
There’s a possibility of doing a Billionaire Romance; though, I’m not really interested in the usual Billionaire books since I hate Billionaires [even fictional ones – a lot of these characters are arseholes and just try to buy the protagonist… That ain’t love]. So, an accidental Billionaire turned socialist? Maybe? Who knows.
I’ve also been suggested to go back to my Mafia Romance, but I suspect that won’t turn out as most would like it to as it’s a Sapphic story of a Trans/Genderfluid Woman heading a Mafia which acts as an organisation that helps the impoverished… Not something that usually happens in those types of books, or in real life Mafia [most of the time – there’s always some exceptions].
Then there’s my Paranormal Romance – if you think turning into a mythical creature to fight a dictator is a good idea, maybe that’s the one I should go with? But when the OG short story was given to testers at the time [five years ago], they didn’t seem too interested in it. It was too “political” – apparently people don’t want to see Nazis being decimated by a paranormal person? [Could’ve fooled me].
I suppose what I’m trying to say is – I have many ideas which I want to work on but can’t choose. And, while I hate the idea of writing for algorithms, which is why I typically don’t, I’d like to give you some input.
They’re all romances, I know – I’m a romantic, I can’t help it. Although, two are dark and action based, and the other is more just romance and erotica.
So, which would you pick? What do you think I should work on next?
Of course, all of these will likely come to pass at some point - whether in the form of a novel, novella, novelette, or a short story. Hey, maybe a poem – who knows.
