It's genuinely shocking to me how far I've got with Between the Petals. Not so much as 'I wasn't expecting to finish it', but 'I wasn't expecting to get this far ahead in my schedule'.

Between the Petals is a novel I wrote to near completion in 2023 - it was a mere 50,000 words and took a week.

It was after my first year of being unemployed due to my disability becoming too severe, and it was the only thing which could take my mind off the worry of the entire situation.

It's a story I'd submitted to a small publishing house after they put a call out for Erotica/Romance novels. I thought I had a relatively good chance in fulfilling the brief... Until the feedback of the novel came back and I was informed it was too erotic.

Eventually, the book was put into story because I didn't have the energy to finish it nor did I have the desire to. 

Until now! When Fleeting Fridays fell through, due to personal issues with the story, I decided to dust off the original Between the Petals and revamp it with disabled representation and a love interest based on my partner.

Now, to think I'm ten weeks ahead in my release schedule... I finally feel at peace.

There is nothing quite as stressful as continuously riding deadlines - something I've been doing, up until now, for the past year - at least.

Anyways, I digress.
